Veteran men's and women's hockey NCMM to meet LYTNM in women's final
COSMO, YAC will challenge for men's title on May 1

Imphal, April 29 2015 : NCMM, Sabal Leikai will play LYTNM, Lamlongei in the women's final while COSMO, Wangkhei and YAC, Yaiskul will vie for the men's title of the 3rd Khumukcham Ibungoyaima Singh Memorial men's veteran and 2nd Tayenjam Bhubon Singh memorial women's veteran hockey tournament.

In the women's last league round, NCMM, Sabal Leikai and LYTNM, Lamlongei played out a 3-3 draw.

The match began with Ksh Sushma of NCMM striking the opening goal in the 8th minute.

Minutes later, N Punam of NCMM struck home another goal to help her team take a comfortable 2-0 lead.

On the other hand, LYTNM's P Inaocha managed to pull back a goal in the 20th minute to make the scoreline 2-1 .

Three minutes later, NCMM witnessed their third goal after N Punam banged in her second goal in the 23rd minute.

NCMM failed to convert the only penalty corner of their team.

On the other side, with two goals down LYTNM continued to fight back seeking to come back into the match desperately.

The LYTNM efforts finally paid off after P Tolitama scored a brace in the 24th and 39th minute respectively to make the scoreline 3-3 at the end of regulation time.

In the men's event, COSMO, Wangkhei lost against YAC, Yaiskul by a margin of 1 goal to three.

P Bishworjit struck home a brace in the 17th and 21st minute to help YAC, Yaiskul take a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Minutes later, H Raikumar of COSMO pulled back a goal in the 29th minute.

COSMO failed to convert their two penalty corners.

On the other hand, YAC managed to convert a penalty corner after S Tarun swiftly collected the ball and put it into the net beating the COSMO custodian hands down.

The women's final will be played between NCMM, Sabal Leikai and LYTNM, Lamlongei at 1 pm on May 1 while COSMO, Wangkhei and YAC, Yaiskul will clash in the men's final at 2.30 pm.

The closing ceremony of the tournament which is organised by Manipur Veteran Hockey Association held at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium will be graced by Hiyanglam A/C E Dwijamani Singh, Manipur Veteran Hockey Association vice president A Bidhanchandra Singh, EK Higher Secondary School Principal P Saratchandra Singh, Women Voluntary Organisation secretary Ch Sharmila and Social Activist N Helendro Singh as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
