Imphal, April 29 2015 : A combined security team has recovered a huge cache of ammunition and explosive materials during a search operation conducted in the forest of Nongren Chingmei forest under Lamlai police station this morning.

According to a BSF source, after getting a specific information, the Field G team of BSF sector headquarters of Counter Insurgency Operation unit of Koirengei along with troops of E-Company of 49 Bn BSF CI (Ops) Lamlai post, BSF bomb disposal team with a sniffer dog and Lamlai police personnel launched the operation at 6.30 am.

During the operation, the bomb disposal squad first detected a metallic object, wrapped in a polythene bag.

The metallic object was found buried there.

Later, 100 live rounds of AK ammunition, two PK explosive material weighing 100 grams each, two explosive materials weighing 100 grams each and one kilogram of nail-splinters of IED were recovered.

The recovered items were handed over to Lamlai police station.
