Thoubal, September 08 2023:
The two-day public curfew imposed by the Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) on September 8 and 9 has been lifted from 5 pm today.
Speaking to media persons today at TAKDAL office, Jotin Waikhom, convenor, TAKDAL conveyed that the public curfew was lifted 12 hours after it was imposed in view of the inconveniences inflicted on the people as Kuki militants have allegedly launched another gun attack today.
Stating that the public curfew was called following a decision made during the public convention held at Khongjom, the TAKDAL convenor also expressed shock upon being accused of harbouring a hidden agenda by some organisations.
He added that the public curfew was also endorsed by various civil society organisations including COCOMI, FOCS etc during the public meeting organised by Thawai Mirel Women Wing yesterday which witnessed the participation of 35 CSOs.
In view of this, he called it unfortunate that attempts had been made to paint TAKDAL in a poor light and appealed against such accusations in the future.
Lastly, Jotin Waikhom expressed his gratitude towards the public and organisations who supported TAKDAL's public curfew today.
