AR observes World Teachers' Day

26 Sector Assam Rifles observed the World Teachers' Day at its Pallel headquarters today under the aegis of the Hqs IGAR(S) .
Apart from 26 Sector AR Commander Brig Rajeev Chhiber and Chandel DC Robert Ksh, officers and jawans of army, teachers and students of Chandel district attended the function.
Presentation of gifts to teachers and entertainment programmes performed by students were the main highlights of the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Brig Rajeev Chhiber highlighted the immense roles and responsibilities of teachers in the contemporary world.
The literacy rate of Manipur is 80 per cent approximately as against the all India literary rate of 74 per cent.
There is growing need to amend the current education system so that it is made more comprehensive by focusing on grooming inherent talents and faculties of each student.
But any change to the existing education system can be brought about only by teachers, said the Brigadier.
Nonetheless, Assam Rifles need to play a big role in the field of education.
Citing an example, Brig Rajeev Chhiber said that a school building of T Nampao village located close to Myanmar border was fully renovated by Assam Rifles and now it has become a self-sustaining educational institution.
Altogether 175 teachers of Chandel district attended the function and they were presented gifts by Brig Rajeev Chhiber and Chandel DC Robert Ksh.
Robert said that the World Teachers' Day was first observed under UNESCO in 1994 .
Teachers' dedication for the future of young students is common knowledge.
He also assured all possible assistance towards students and teachers in the capacity of a DC.
