Right to Information Week kickstarted

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated the Right to Information Week Celebration - 2015 being organised by the Manipur Information Commission under the sponsorship of the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension, Govt.Of India at the auditorium of the Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace compound, Imphal.
Inaugurating the week-long celebration, O Ibobi appealed to the people of the State to know their right to information and make legitimate use of it.
He said that RTI is a unified venture for the Government and public aimed at bringing a better and more developed State.
He also appealed to all the Government departments to make necessary voluntary disclosure of information as per provisions of the Act on the one hand.
He then appealed to all citizens not to misuse the Act.
Presiding over the function, Deputy CM Gaikhangam in his remarks stressed the importance and benefits of the Right to Information Act and at the same time the need to use it with responsibility.
He said, RTI Act is like a double edged sword and so the intention of the RTI applicant must be responsible and holy.
He also appealed not to misuse this Act as RTI Act is like the holy Bible, the Geeta and the Quran.
The State Chief Information Commissioner Th Ibobi Singh gave the welcome and the keynote address of the inaugural function which was attended by Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, high ranking officials of the State Govt, officials from different departments, members of CSOs, students etc, conveyed a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
