Jiribam, June 17 2024:
Even though a tense situation has gripped Jiribam following the gruesome murder of Soibam Saratkumar of Sorok Atingbi Khunou by suspected Kuki militants and the subsequent burning of more than 70 Meitei houses which led to displacement of hundreds of people, the special commandos of Manipur Police sent by the State Government have not been sent to Barak Circle yet.
As such many quarters have raised strong suspicion whether a secret plan has been hatched to cleanse Jiribam of the Meitei community.
There are some Kuki houses in Chandrapur Ward No 7 under Jiribam Municipal Council and they are being guarded by Assam Rifles round the clock.
On the other hand, all the Meitei houses of Lamtai Khunou, Modhupur etc which are located at the periphery of Jiribam district adjoining Pherzawl district have all been burnt down by armed Kukis as no security was provided to these villages despite repeated appeals.
Strangely, these Meitei houses were burnt down on the day the residents were evacuated by Assam Rifles.
With the special commandos still kept away from Barak Circle and Chief Minister N Biren aborting his plan to visit Jiribam, many fear if there is a conspiracy to wipe out the Meitei community from Jiribam district.
It has been four/five days since CRPF troops have been stationed at Chotobekra High School in Barak Circle which is located about 26 Kms to the South of Jiribam.
There are many heavily armed Kuki militants at Chotobekra tribal village (Tuisuilen) which is just about 500 metres West of Chotobekra High School (CRPF camp).
There are also Kuki militants at Phailenthang Punji, Chungakhal and Saikulphai villages which are located just 500 metres to the East of the CRPF camp.
Likewise, there are well armed Kuki militants at Vhuong Veng Hmar village which is located around 2 Kms to the South of the CRPF camp.
Even though the Kuki militants have been moving around these places, not far away from the CRPF camp, the CRPF troops have not yet done anything to drive out or neutralise the militants.
Meanwhile, troops of A/155 Coy, CRPF arrived at Borobekra Block Office at around 3.30 pm .
