Imphal, August 08 2020:
A video shared by many on a social networking site of a mother of a three-month-old infant complaining about the treatment and facilities provided in a COVID Care Centre opened at the campus of IIIT, Mantripukhri has created a stir among the internet users in the State.
The mother in her 3.47 minutes long video complained that the building where they have been lodged has only four adults and two infants including her child.
But due to power outage the place was pitch dark and there was no security guard or anyone to provide anything.
The place was surrounded by bushes and it was filled with mosquitoes but no mosquito net was provided, she said.
She also complained that they have not been attended to by any doctor or nurse since the time they were lodged there.
She said her baby tested positive but she was tested negative following which she and her baby were brought to the COVID Care Centre at IIIT campus, after they were picked up from their residence at around 10 AM yesterday.
Following the Government's protocol, she came hoping that they would be taken care of at the centre.
"But now I am very frustrated after all my appeals have fallen to deaf ears," she said.
Many people have now started questioning the way the State Government is handling the pandemic.
Many comments on her post shows resentment and anger towards the State Government's treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Meanwhile, a source has informed that the mother and her child have been shifted to a better place this afternoon after the intervention of Health Minister L Jayantakumar.
The mother in her Facebook live post at 7.30 pm today thanked the Health Minister and the people who have supported her.
