Raising several demands, volunteers of Khurai Panagi Nahasing took out a silent protest rally by donning black masks and violating curfew today.
Some of the demands which were raised during the rally were to restore normalcy in Manipur, implement National Register of Citizens (NRC), stop crime against women, abolish Kuki narco-terrorism, expedite the resettlement and rehabilitation works of the displaced persons and against the separate administration demand being raised by the Kukis.
The rally started from Khabeisoi YOCS ground and marched towards Lamlong Bazar, but the rallyists were stopped by Imphal East police and didn't allow them to proceed further.
The rallyists then diverted toward Ipum Lambi and concluded the rally at the premises of Social Standard Club at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai.
A large number of Meira Paibis also took part in the rally.
Not a single slogan was raised during the protest rally.
Speaking to the media persons, one Sana Mangang said that the inability of the Government to end the violence in Manipur has posed a serious threat to the future of the students and youth of the State.
Saying that the youths have been urging the Government to work out a solution to the ongoing crisis time and again but to no avail, she said that they took out the silent rally to show their resentment against the Government for failing to address the grievances of the people.
Another volunteer of Khurai Panagi Nahasing said that the State is in a restive situation since the last five months and the same has taken a heavy poll on every Manipuri.
Saying that the Government has failed to restore normalcy in Manipur, she asked why the Government is unable to work out a solution to the ongoing crisis till now.
She urged the Government to deliver justice to the two Meetei students Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi by taking up exemplary punishment against the Kuki militants who murdered them and to expedite the rehabilitation and resettlement works of the displaced Meetei people so that they could return home and restart their lives with whatever they have.
On the other hand, Meira Paibis of Uripok Yambem Maning Leikai and Khumanthem Leikai staged a joint sit-in protest at Khumanthem Leikai Meira Shang against the murder of two Meetei students by the Kuki militants.
The protesters demanded capital punishment for every person found guilty in the murder case.
