Two women found dead in different cases

Imphal, February 26 2016 : Two women were found dead at different places under mysterious circumstances in two different cases, during the last 24 hours.

In the first instance, a young housewife was found hung to death in a suspicious manner at Thanga Hameibon under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Ningthoujam (N) Laishram (O) Sophia (22) w/ o Laishram Thoiba.

She was found hung to death from a tree near their residential gate at around 7 last night.

Suspicious over the man- ner in which Sophia was found dead, her maternal fam- ily at Thanga Salam Leikai has lodged a complaint at Moirang police station.

One of the family mem- bers told this reporter at RIMS morgue that they got information about the incident at around 8 pm.

Sophia's body was al- ready brought down from the tree when they reached her husband's house, he said.

Sophia was married with Thoiba around one month back, he added.

In another case, a 45-year- old woman has been found dead at Samaram Panthak Loukol in Thoubal district at around 10 am today.

The deceased has been identified as Moirangthem (O) Memicha (45) w/o Shyam.

Although, Memicha's hus- band Shyam is from Samaram Mamang Leikai, the couple has been staying with their children at Memicha's mater- nal house at Naharup Pangong Makhong since the past two years.

Memicha never returned home after she went to Samaram from Naharup on February 22 last, said a source.

The body was found on a heap of straws by some workers who happened to pass the paddy field at around 10 am today.

Thoubal police recovered a plastic can of Kinado insecti- cide from near the body.

The body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue after a team of Manipur Police Forensic Science Laboratory conducted inquest of the area.

Memicha is survived by her husband, one son and three daughters.
