Imphal, August 03 2022:
Refuting the claims made by 7/8 women vendors of Lamphel supermarket through the media about denying vending slots to them, Lamphel Super Market Shops & Streets Vendors' Welfare Association has condemned the misleading claims of the women vendors saying their intention is to possess additional spaces.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Association secretary Sapam Suresh contended that such false claims of denying vending area is an act to destroy the market.
They all have vending space along with their allocated seat number, he continued, while adding that processing of vendor cards at IMC is under process.
Urging authorities concerned to look into the lies being spread by these women vendors that may mislead other vendors, Suresh cautioned that the women vendors in question should bear all the consequences if any untoward incidents occur in the market.
On the other hand, one Thoudam Nee-ta Devi, a street-vendor selling items at Lamphel Super Market since May 2, 2011, condemned the false charges levelled by Lamphel Super Market Shops & Street Vendors' Welfare Association against the eight women vendors.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, she pointed out that IMC handed over the market to the association after completing its construction.
The controversy over allotment of allotment could have been averted had the Association not allotted shops to their near and dear ones.
Moreover, a sum of Rs .10,000 was collected from them by the Association, she alleged, while adding that the Association particularly gave vending spaces to them instead of shops.
She urged authorities concerned to look into the matter.
