ARO urges for fearless participation in election

ARO Krishna Kumar, who is also the deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal district, encouraged the denizens to engage actively in the electoral process by exercising their right to vote without any fear.
Making the appeal ahead of the Lok Sabha election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, scheduled for April 26, in a press conference held at the Chandel DC's conference hall, on Tuesday, Krishna Kumar (IAS) assured that all necessary precautionary measures have been taken up to ensure that the upcoming Lok Sabha polls is conducted peacefully.
He mentioned that out of the total 78 polling stations in Tengnoupal district, 74 are classified as normal, and four reserved specifically for the internally displaced voters.
The polling stations include two model polling stations, one for Persons with Disabilities, and 15 reserved exclusively for women personnel.
Stating that security personnel will be flagged off on Wednesday for timely deployment at their designated polling stations to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections, the ARO said another batch will be sent on Thursday.
Krishna Kumar also mentioned that BSF personnel will be stationed at 73 polling stations, with state forces including the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Manipur Rifles (MR) manning five polling stationsi Additionally, CCTV and video recordings will be ensured with live coverage of the voting proceedings.
Besides making arrangements for additional security for critical and vulnerable polling stations, sealing of the inter district boundaries and the Indo-Myanmar border will commence 72 hours before start of voting, he said, while appealing to the people of the district to exercise their voting rights without any fear.
Meanwhile, a meeting was convened by Moreh police on Tuesday with the aim of ensuring free and fair conduct of the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting was attended by Moreh additional SP (Op) Mcl Riyajudin and Moreh police station OC Md Salauddin, Tengnoupal district police, 5 Assam Rifles' major Abhisek, captain Rajendra (CRPF), representatives of Moreh-based Hill Tribal Council, Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj Samiti, Manipuri Muslim Council, Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, and Kuki Women Union & Human Rights.
