HAC chief lists development projects in Noney

The 1st District Level Inter-School Sports, Literary and Cultural Meet under the theme 'Quest for Excellence', jointly organised by Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) and Longmai Students' Union (LSU), kicked off on Tuesday at Longmai Common Ground, Noney district headquarters.
Speaking at the chief guest of the meet in the presence of Noney DC Joseph Pauline Kamson, Hill Areas Committee (HAC), Manipur chairman Diganglung Gangmei announced that a fire brigade sub-station will be established soon in Noney town near NH-37 while funds have been set aside to develop an artificial football turf (7-a-side), an open gym, and a swimming pool.
Further stating that the DIET training centre will be made operational in Noney during the upcoming academic session, he said the Noney PHC will shortly be upgraded to CMC level.
Longmai's Haipou Jadonang Memorial College has also been recognised by the UGC, he further informed.
A new patient transport ambulance was also handed over to Dr Z Kamei, CMO Noney, as part of the programme for public use.
The meet features 11 schools from the Noney district.
Over the course of five days, students will compete in sports such as football, volleyball, a marathon run, a 100-metre race, relay race, and tug of war.
While the literary event will include painting competitions, essay writing competitions, solo competitions, extempore speeches, march-past competitions, etc., the cultural event will focus on cultural dance and cultural dress/attire competitions.
