Assam Rifles promotes youth empowerment

As part of overall outreach and empowerment of youth and students in Thoubal district, Thoubal Company of Keithelmanbi Battalion has been conducting pre-recruitment training since May 3 at Thoubal and undertaking continuous and holistic efforts in imparting the pre-requisite skills and capabilities required by the aspiring youth to join Indian Armed Forces and CAPFs.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the objective of conducting the training programme is to guide and prepare potential candidates to make them competent enough to clear various tests conducted during the recruitment rally.
The training includes orientation, screening/checking of documents, medical and physical examination, guidance and preparation for the written test and one-to-one counselling to address queries and enhance their confidence.
Timed run, detailed physical proficiency tests and mock written papers have been incorporated in the curriculum to make it effective and comprehensive.
Moreover, the procedure of filling up forms for Agnipath Recruitment Scheme, Assam Rifles Recruitment Rallies and other CAPF has also been deliberated towards enhancing awareness of aspirants.
The holistic curriculum has become very popular in adjoining areas and has seen massive participation.
So far, a total of 372 youths (288 boys & 84 girls) have been part of the training and carried out registration with Assam Rifles despite challenges of weather and their commitments.
The village elders, mei-ra paibi and parents of the youth have extended their support to Assam Rifles for well-planned and meaningful training.
Willing youth, who have not yet registered for training, may reach out to Thoubal Company for the same, the PRO advised, adding that the ongoing pre- recruitment training organised by Assam Rifles will definitely boost the morale of the candidates and brighten their chances of selection in upcoming recruitment rallies.
The training being undertaken also promotes Khelo India and "Fit India movement and has emerged as great tool of youth empowerment by addressing the issue of unemployment, promoting sports and fitness and weaning youth away from addiction and unlawful activities by channelising their energies positively.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion of IGAR (S) organised a career counselling lecture at Chiengkonpang village in Churachandpur district on Saturday.
Informing that a motivational lecture for joining the Armed Forces was delivered to higher secondary class students, PRO IGAR (S) said in another release that the students were guided about the various entries to join Indian Armed Forces, the preparation for these exams and benefits of joining Armed forces.
The efforts of creating awareness were highly appreciated by the students who expressed their gratitude for giving them a thorough insight to choose a suitable career.
A total of 80 students attended the lecture.
