MHRC visits new Chadong village

A team of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) led by its chairman Justice UB Shah visited the new Chadong village site and interacted with the villagers on Monday.
Justice Shah also advised the villagers to file complaint to the Commission regarding violation of human rights or any other issues faced by them.
Speaking to media persons, he stressed that the Commission is not for one particular community but working to uphold human rights of every community residing in the state".
Informing that the Commission has been visiting the places affected by the on-going ethnic conflict, he urged all to report any problems faced by the public so that it can take up the issue with department concerned and make necessary recommendations for redressal.
Justice U B Shah also mentioned that the Manipur is a very beautiful state, hence to end the present crisis it would be better if a third party which is not involved in the ongoing conflict take up the responsibility of bringing an agreement between the communities in conflict for restoring normalcy, so that the tourism sector can be developed more in the state.
During the MHRC's tour, a memorandum highlighting the issues faced by the villagers was submitted to the chairman through Kamjong deputy commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter.
The visit was also participated by MHRC staff, SP Ukhrul Ningshem Vashum and village leaders.
