Imphal, September 08 2023:
Maintaining that the fresh attacks carried out by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists in Pallel and Koutruk areas is their clandestine move, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has urged the state government not to remain silent when armed Chin-Kuki militants are attacking the Meetei villages.
Addressing media persons at the UCM office at Lamphelpat here on Friday, COCOMI convenor Jitendra Ningomba said that people have been fighting a war against the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists ever since the ethnic violence broke out in the state on May 3.After the war came to a halt for a few days, the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist began fresh attack in Pallel and Koutruk areas on Friday, a clandestine move of the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
He further informed that the fresh attack by the armed Kuki terrorists is an act to show the never ending crisis in the state to the world leaders, who are coming to attend the G-20 summit slated to be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10.Jitendra Ningomba further stated that the fresh attack of armed Kuki militants towards Meetei community in Pallel and Koutruk compelled the already agitated Meeteis to rush to the spot during which the central security forces used force and assaulted the Meeteis.
Such acts of the security forces is condemned in the strongest terms, he said and added that during the crackdown by the security forces one person has been killed and over 50 injured.
From among those injured include 19 people who received bullet injuries.
Moreover, another minor girl was also injured in an attack carried out by armed Kuki militants in Koutruk area.
He also stated that COCOMI has been appealing to the armed Kuki militants to stop attacking the innocent Meetei villages.
However, more attacks have been carried out.
Under such a situation when the Meetei villages are being continuously attacked by armed Kuki militants, the state government should not remain silent but take up necessary measures to stop the violence being meted out to the Meeteis by the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Further stating that the inability of the government to stop killing of innocent Meeteis by armed Kuki militants would eventuality aggravate the prevailing situation which could further lead to unwanted incidents to happen, Jitendra said that the state and central governments should ensure that the attitude of the central forces towards the public is corrected and that their (central forces) attack to the public be stopped once and for all.
