JAC unhappy with Govt's response

Even as representatives of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren for the fourth time yesterday on their 22-point charter of demands which included the demand for implementation of the 7th Pay, the meeting could not arrive at any understanding.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, JAC president Advocate Khaidem Mani said that the JAC has been demanding implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission's recommendations in toto.
Earlier, when JAC functionaries and Chief Minister N Biren met for the third time, Earlier, when JAC functionaries and Chief Minister N Biren met for the third time, the Chief Minister asked the JAC to wait for three months regarding their demand for implementation of the 7th Pay.
Even though the Chief Minister has agreed in principle to give 7th Pay to the State Government employees, N Biren refused to give any commitment regarding when the Government would issue an order for implementation of the 7th Pay.
While citing the present financial condition of the State for the Government's inability to implement the 7th Pay, the Chief Minister, nonetheless, assured that he would take up the matter with Prime Minister when the latter visits Imphal this month.
The JAC would wait for a Government's response till March 21 and employees would launch an indefinite cease work strike from the next day as announced earlier in case the Government does not translate the employees' demand into action, Mani said.
