Imphal, August 16 2015:
Thousands of people staged sit-ins and formed human chains in several parts of the Manipur Valley on Sunday as part of the stir demanding the implementation of an Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur.
Normal life was paralyzed in many parts of the valley as agitators blocked vehicular traffic till late at night.
Punishment to police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood and also outraging the modesty of girl students by the state armed forces during ILPS agitations are also among the key demands of the public.

A human chain was formed at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai in Imphal West jointly organised by Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai Women's Welfare Association and Progressive Youths Development Association.
The demonstrators chanted slogans against the Government to introduce ILPS for safeguarding the indigenous people and to punish all cops responsible for the death of Sapam Robinhood.
"We, the indigenous people may suffer because of lack of space to settle in our own land in near future in the absence of a proper ILPS or a similar law to defend ourselves from outsiders," one of the demonstrators said.
The protesters demanded that the Manipur Government without any further hesitation insert all the five points recommended by JCILPS in the fresh ILPS Bill.
Raising the same demand, sit-ins were staged at Naoremthong Upak Thong by hundreds of local girls from Naoremthong Leikai and Takyel Khongbal.
Major roads were blocked by protesters in demand of ILPS implementation in Khurai area, Checkon, Porompat, Thangapat, Wangkhei, Soibam Leikai, Ayangpalli road, Keithel Ashangbi, Brahmapur Nahabam Bamon Leikai, Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa Leikai, Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai and many other places across the valley.
