Women activists of the State today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju at Delhi over the controversial death Pravish Chanam.
The women activists urged the Union Home Minister to hand over the case of Pravish Chanam to the CBI.
Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda was also present during the meeting.
While expressing displeasure over the failure of police to make any breakthrough in the four months old case, Rajnath Singh assured all possible assistance from his side, informed a source.
Meanwhile, a mass torch rally was taken out this evening along Khurai Tinsid Road demanding justice in the controversial death of Pravish Chanam and an end to racial discrimination of people from the North East at Delhi and other cities of India.
The mass rally was jointly organised by Public Affairs and Reformation Centre, Paragon Club, Meira Paibi Mothers' Association, Khurai Sajor Leikai and Chingangbam Leikai, Nongpok Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup and Netaji Memorial Club.
The rally was flagged off from Paragon Club, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai but it was stopped by police at JNIMS crossing, informed a source.
