Imphal, June 01 2015 :
The incensed villagers chased away a huge number of police commandos who had come as guards of the officials to measure land for acquisition for the construction of the sports university at Yaithibi Loukol.
The press release issued by the villagers also refuted the claim by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi that 333 acres have been acquired from the Loukol.
It was clarified that the villagers have not made over " a single inch of land for the purpose of the construction of the sports university", the press statement issued by Anjuman Nasrul Islam, Sora said.
It further said that instead of spreading baseless information like this the government had better start construction of the sports university at a site where there is no objection from the villagers.
The villagers are urging the government not to take further steps in this direction at Yaithibi Loukol.
This is the last appeal from the villagers, the release said.
The officials and police commandos had come there on Friday.
After chasing away them the villagers held a meeting at Purani Masjid Sora to take stock of the situation.
Several resolutions were taken and important among them are obstruction to the government plan to acquire land.
No villager should sell land and if anyone is found defying it he or she will be banished from the village.
