Thazinglap celebrated

The fourth edition of Vaiphei tribe's State level autumn festival � Thazinglap was celebrated today at Churachandpur's Lingsiphai village even as the community's old tradition and practices were brought back to life as part of the festivity.
Works Minister Th Biswajit, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, former MLA T Manga Vaiphei, ADC members P Kamkholal and Genneikhup Vaiphei among other dignitaries graced the main event today.
Addressing the event, Biswajit dwelt on the vibrant history of Vaipheis and holding it in high esteem.
He particularly praised the historical significance of the Vaipheis to that of the Meitei Maharajas and claimed that the kindred tribes of the State are the things that make the State beautiful.
Traditional dances and sports of the community which have been pushed to the back seats were showcased during the event.
Prizes for the day-long sports conducted yesterday were also handed over today by the guests.
The Works Minister promised to look at the memorandum submitted to him and see that whatever possible will be taken care of.
He additionally made a mention of the State Government's intention to restore the dilapidated Henglep road which the previous Government and the current Government have so far failed to do so, saying huge efforts are underway to develop the road and expressed his desire to see it improved in the near future.
