Airport drug haul case of 2013 : Inspector deposes before Court

Inspector K Ranjit, OC Narcotic Cell Imphal West, gave his statement before the Special Court Narcotic today as a prosecution witness of the 2013 airport drug haul case.
The accused, O Henry, Sapam Angus, Rajneesh Kumar and Ramveer Tyagi filed a dispense before the Court and were represented by their counsel while Tarpon and Md Rajjauddin were present during the trial hearing today.
K Ranjit submitted that he was in charge of the SIU and used to give direction to his subordinate officers as well as the constables from outside the airport and informed about the matter to the then Addl SP Herojit, who was in charge of Imphal West as SP K Jayenta was out of station.
He submitted that he received detailed information from his subordinate officer of SIU stating that they had reached the cargo area of the airport and found a number of trolley coming out with cargos of different types and shapes.
At that time, he received a phone call from O Henry and another call from Tarpon, both asking him to call back all his men from the airport and not to touch the contents.
His submission as a prosecution witness was cross examined by the defense counsel of Tarpon and K Ranjit stated that he did not respond to any phone call from Tarpon nor mentioned his mobile number when he gave his statement to JMIC Bidhannagar.
He also stated that he is disclosing Tarpon's mobile number before the; Court despite threats to his life and added that due to the threats he did not disclose the names of powerful persons who owned the seized drugs while recording his statement.
