Imphal, April 26 2024:
Meitei Resurgence Forum (MReF) has proposed to the central government to take immediate action in connection with the on-going terror attacks on national properties to keep Manipur under siege by Kuki narco-terrorists and realise their mischievous goals.
While stated that the terrorists should be punished before it is too late, MReF president T Ramananda recalled that on April 25, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) came out with a press release appealing to the Indian government for its "immediate intervention and impartial investigation over the incessant attack on Kuki-Zo dominated areas", apart from blaming armed Meetei groups for "the recent attempt to disrupt the crucial economic lifeline of the state before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency".
For a while, Meitei Resurgence Forum (MReF) paused and thought about not responding to the blatant lies.
Then, better sense prevailed over us that truth must be told, Ramananda said.
He pointed out that Kuki narco-terrorists ambushed oil and LPG gas tankers along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) between Tollen (Kuki village) and San-tikhunou under Tousem police station in Tamenglong district on April 16 and on April 24 Kuki narco-terrorists blasted a critical bridge between Sapermeina and Koubru Laikha along National Highway-2, which is a Kuki-dominated area.
The powerful IED blast damaged the bridge, leaving over 150 trucks carrying essential commodities to the state capital, Imphal, stranded in Senapati district, he denounced.
Earlier, there were incidences when Kuki narco-terrorists poured toxic materials into rivers flowing down from Kuki-dominated areas (hills) to the Imphal valley.
These are few of the various incidences of terrorist attacks committed by Kuki narco-terrorists and not by chief minister Biren Singh or any other Meetei organisation as KIM claimed, Ramananda clarified.
"Truth, virtues, and ethical consideration, as the Bible teaches, are missing from KIM, ITLF, Kuki Students' Organisation, or any other Kuki organisation.
However, they claim to be Christians and could go all the way to New Delhi, Kerala, Europe and North America, playing the Christian card of victimhood," Ramananda remarked.
Kuki Christians must stop circulating disinformation and misleading people, including the global Christian brethren for political mileage.
The Kuki narco-terrorists, along with their supporters, provoked and attacked the Meeteis first to engineer a clash and subsequently leveraging tribal and Christian narratives to portray themselves as victims.
This sequence of events is now widely recognised, he pointed out, while asserting that to foster peace, it is essential that Kukis apologise for their aggression and engage constructively in peace-building efforts, rather than misleading the public which could spur further terrorist attacks.
