Guwahati, September 28 2012:
Chairman of the United National Liberation Front, Sanayaima alias RK Meghen has claimed that the National Investigation Agency, in its charge sheet framed against the outfit, has dubbed its activities as 'only to bring sovereignty in the State of Manipur' .
Speaking to the media while coming out from the NIA Court here, RK Meghen claimed that the points mentioned in the charge sheet itself is a big political victory as this is the first time that such a charge sheet has been brought before the Court of Law in India.
Though 15 members of the outfit were brought to the Court today, no hearing of the trial could be conducted as Justice Ikramul Hussain is presently on the Haj pilgrim.
The trial may be taken up once he returns.
Making his stand clear, RK Meghen said that the UNLF does not accept terms such as separatists, insurgents or secessionists as Manipur was never a part of India, having existed as an independent entity for more than 2000 years.

The leader of the UNLF further said that they are not waging a war against India nor do they take the Indian army as their enemy.
The UNLF only resists the Indian armed forces stationed in Manipur and to resist those people who are engaged in colonial repression, he added.
Meghen further said "we have nothing to demand from the Government of India but are instead fighting to regain sovereignty" .
The Chairman of the outfit continued saying that the charges are framed to convict the revolutionaries and claimed that NIA does not have any strong evidence to charge them of waging war against India.
Stating that staged surrenders and fake encounters are natural in this struggle, Meghen however added that it will never suppress the ideology of the revolution.
He further said that the strength of UNLF is the people of Manipur and inspiration is the belief in the history of living together united.
He added that strong centralized Indian political power declined when alliance Government came to power leading to the decentralization process in India.
Regional political party will come to power as has happened in West Bengal, he predicted and added that it is inevitable as it is the way India was formed inheriting the contradiction.
Claiming that the ethos and values of democracy do not exist in Manipur, Meghen said that martial laws have been in vogue.
People vote in elections only in name sake as the real power lies in the hands of the Armed forces, he claimed.
On the formation of CorCom, Meghen said that it a positive move.
It is a result of the collective decision of the leaders, he said and added that it is also based on the lessons learnt from the mistakes of RJC, IBRF and MPLF.
He stated that some people have reason to believe that revolution is a kind of business undertaking and added that he too has the reason to believe that the surrender drama is also an industry.
Influx of migrants into Manipur must be stopped as it has become major threat to the indigenous population, said Meghen.
With October 15 approaching, the leader of the UNLF said that on September 21, 1949, Manipur was forcibly merged into the Union of India and the merger came into effect on October 15 of the same year.
Questioning how it happened, Meghen observed that after the merger with India the people of Manipur are struggling to survive.
Plebiscite is the only means to resolve the conflict, added Meghen.
