Events, competitions mark children's day celebration across various districts

As a part of the Nationwide children's day observation, various institutions and schools across the State observed the day by organising different activities.
In Tengnoupal district, the children day celebration was observed at REACH-M, RTC hall of Centre Systemic Village School, Nungourok, Tengnoupal district.
The celebration was attended by SP, Tengnoupal S Ibomcha as chief guest, member secretary of Child Welfare Committee, Chandel, W Wanlalkhup as guest of honour and Director REACH-M, M Tongpao Haokip as president.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibomcha highlighted the importance of observing the day while stating that children of the present generation would shape a developed future.
"As children are the responsible citizen of tomorrow, they must adopt values of good character, discipline and cleanliness apart from attaining quality education", he added.
The SP distributed sweets and gifts to the children as a part of the celebration.
Meanwhile, Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI), Jiribam observed International Children's day at its office in Chingdong Leikai.
Dibong Gram Panchayat Pradhan RK Nobinsana, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Jiribam secretary Sarat Thokchom and retired DI of School ZEO, Jiribam Ch Sunamani Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
HRDI, Jiribam advisor Ksh Biren Singh stressed on the relevance of celebrating children's day across the Nation and added that the day is celebrated to acknowledge the importance of children as they are the pillars of the Nation.
Ch Sunamani Singh lauded HRDI Chingdong Leikai for reviving the day while adding that Jiribam had almost lost the children's day celebration.
RK Nobinsana underlined the importance of building a children park in the district and added students who are facing acute shortage of teachers at school is unfortunate, despite the Government's effort to provide quality education at schools.
The children's day was celebrated at Paradise English School, Thoubal Okram where a prize distribution ceremony was also held.
MLA O Henry, MLA O Suijakumar, Thoubal municipal Council Chairperson Th Shyamo, ward no 1 Councillor O Inaotombi Devi, MU Professor N Mohilal and School president L Achou attended the event as dignitaries.
Students beginning from 2014 batch, who scored letter marks and received awards at activities, were awarded with simple gifts during the function.
The school students presented different dance and music to celebrate the day.
The Eastern Blooming Flower School, Ukhongsang also celebrated children's day by organising a painting competition , under the sponsorship of Bima School LIC, Kakching.
The competition was categorised according to the class in which students from class 6 to 10 participated.
The winners of each class were Th Jagat of class VI, S Nahidiya of class VII, Nevedita of class VIII, Linda Waikhom of class IX and M Preety of class X .
Meanwhile, H M Higher Secondary School, Keithelmanbi celebrated the school's 27th children's day cum annual prize distribution at Janglenlal Hall, Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi district.
Councillor of ADC Sadar Hills, Milan Pradhan, graced the occasion as chief guest while co-coordinator, NYK, Kangpokpi, Gourakishore Singh attended as functional president apart from founder of the school S Singsit, Principal, staff, children along with parents/guardian.
"Don't only think of becoming a wealthy person in the future because that frame of mind would lead you to poverty and destruction", the ADC Sadar Hills Councillor stated while speaking on the occasion.
He enlightened the children regarding the importance of becoming a responsible citizen rather than a materialistic one.
Milan Pradhan appreciated the founder of the School, the school management committee, teaching and non-teaching staff, past and present teachers, parents/ guardians and students for their collective efforts for a fruitful 27 years of excellence in education while urging to leave no stone unturned in producing better human resources and inputs from the institution.
The Councillor also contributed cash and kind for the children on the occasion.
Children presented various cultural dance and talent show as a mark of gratitude to their teachers while the school authority on behalf of the teaching and non-teaching staff distributed gifts to the children.
Meanwhile, winners of the annual school sports meet in different categories were awarded with their respective prize by the school authority.
Interestingly, HM Higher Secondary School is considered to be one among many schools in the district, which conducted the annual school sports meet with all categories of sports items including Carom, Badminton, Long Jump, High Jump, Shotput, Race of different category, song competition, dance competition, Balloon blast, Football, Volleyball, Basket ball, Hand ball, Tug-of-War, Kho-Kho etc.
Apart from all these sports items, exciting quiz competition was held today during the interval of the program among the four houses of the school where questionnaires were displayed in a big LCD Screen.
Winners of all the sports items and quiz competition were awarded with a medal and citation apart from record breakers in attendance from Nursery to Class-XII.
Green House bagged the Overall Team Champion and they were awarded with a trophy and citation.
On the other hand, the 27 AR, Ukhrul in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, hosted the children's day celebration for schools of Ukhrul town at Ukhrul town post Wino bazar.
As a part of the celebration, debate competition and drawing competition were organised while entertainment programme such as musical chairs, sack race and sweet-eating competition was held for different categories.
Students from Ukhrul High School, Jesus Goodwill, Scholar Pakshmi, Public School, St John and Savio School participated in the competitions.
The District Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with Juvenile Justice Board, Ukhrul celebrated children's day at Hope Peniel Home, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul, under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
