'Hand over Lukhosei Zou case to CBI'

Imphal, August 08 2020: The Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) has demanded the State Government to hand over the drug seizure case of former ADC Lhukhosei Zou to CBI.

According to a statement of ANUL, many drug smuggling cases have been reported in the State where security forces, police, politicians were found involved.

In January 2013, drugs worth crores were seized from Imphal Airport and the Sub Inspector who seized the drugs got transferred.

However till this day people have not heard any progress made in the case, ANUL said.

Again in February 2013, a large quantity of drugs were seized in Pallel involving an Army officer.

Likewise, the people have heard many other cases, however never heard of any punishment being awarded to anyone, it said.

In the case of former ADC chairman Lhukhosei Zou, people suspect there is involvement of high ranking officials and influential people in the Government, it said.

ANUL suspect that in order to put the case on the side-line, the Additional SP of NAB who was working courageously in the drug seizure case was transferred like the way the SI was transferred in the 2013 Airport case.

Considering the facts in the case, an independent investigating agency like the CBI should investigate the case, it added.
