Imphal, August 03 2022:
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called upon the leaders of all its units and tribal organisations for intensifying the on-going agitation to register their grievances loud and wide.
In a release, ATSUM stated that it truly values and appreciates the efforts and response to its call for fighting for rights of the tribal people.
"We have been on this tumultuous journey thus far for securing our tribal rights and now we are in a defining moment," it said, while adding that the adamant and hostile attitude of state government in tackling the rightful demand of tribals in the state is abominable and such autocratic treatment towards the tribal leaders is highly unacceptable.
"As we reiterate our demand for tabling of the HAC Recommended ADC Bill, 2021 in the on going 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the on-going movement should be strengthened and intensified with all possible means till the goal has been achieved" .
"Rise up tribal sisters and brothers to secure our future," it further exhorted.
Meanwhile, in separate releases, KSO Moreh Block, Zillai (Vaiphei Students' Association) Tengnoupal and Chramram Segment Voice (CSV) have endorsed the total shut down called by ATSUM from 6 pm on Wednesday till 6 pm on Thursday in the hill districts.
The Zillai also appealed to the state government for unconditional release of all detained ATSUM leaders in the interest of tribal community.
