Imphal, June 22 2015 :
The condition of Manipur Zoological Garden at Iroishemba has worsened because of government apathy.
People find many dead cranes among the birds that came to take shelter and forage at Manipur Zoological Garden which is located at Imphal Kangchup Road nearly 7 km far away from Imphal.
Decomposed bodies of such birds make the situation worse.
Many water holes inside the enclosures of water birds are dirtier than expected.
These have become the breeding grounds for the waterborne diseases to the animals and birds at the Zoo.
Endangered 14 species are at Manipur Zoological Garden where about 55 species of animals and birds could be seen.
People feel disappointed when they come to see that more than 420 numbers of different species are at the only Zoo of Manipur.

Sources said that there is undergoing work to relocate these different species.
Cages of birds under Central Zoo Authority are being newly built.
The place of endangered Sangai, including other species is being repaired making the area dirtier.
The budget of the Zoo which is sanctioned by State Govt.is not enough even to buy their foods, said another source.
Woods could also be found at the newly built bamboo house at Manipur Zoological Garden which was opened from 1976 under Forest Department.
It makes no sense of bamboo house at all, it added.
Decomposed bodies of the birds and dirty ponds inside the cages of the Zoo continue to make the only Zoo of the state and its environment dreadful, said many people who visited the Zoo to our reporter.
It will be a shame if foreign tourists wish to see our zoo in this situation.
