Imphal, January 09 2018: National Reconsolidation Day, 2018, cum 184th death anniversary of Chinglen Nongdrenkhomba, was organised at Lamyanba Shanglen under the aegis of United People's Front (UPF) Manipur today.

Speaking at the event, UPF president S Ratankumar said that the "Chahi Taret Khuntakpa" or seven years devastation occurred due to lack of unity among the people.

He said that the seven years devastation ended after the people of the hills and the valley came together.

Ratankumar alleged that mainland India is attempting to create a divide between the hills and the valley as it understands the unity and strength of Manipur.

He also claimed that the Central Government imposed AFSPA in the State as it anticipates that Manipur will desire to become free from India in the future.

Ratankumar said that a strong nation is one which is economically sound, which can produce ample resources and whose people are loyal and patriotic.

Kabui Dharma Sabha Manipur president Lungpuijei Kabui, Director DDU Kaushal Kendra DM Community College, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh attended the event as the presidium members while retired Professor Dept of History, MU, N Joykumar and Associate Professor Imphal College Gonmei Lanbilung spoke as the resource persons.

Speaking at the event, Professor N Joykumar said that January 9 is a significant day in the history of Manipur as on this date, Kabow valley was given away to Burma and Maharaj Gambhir Singh also expired on this date.

He also mentioned that a situation similar to the seven years devastation will occur of the people cannot stop acting out of their self interests.
