Ukhrul, October 05 2015:
The Tangkhul Naga Long TNL has resolved to call an emergency TNL assembly on October 20 to discuss the further course of action to be taken up against the Tangkhul MLAs, who have failed to resign from their respective seats.
Earlier a deadline for all the Tangkhul MLAs to resign from their seats was set on October 3.However though the deadline has expired, two Congress MLAs are yet to resign.
In a meeting held today the TNL president Weapon Zimik was endorsed by all representatives of Tangkhul frontal organizations including the TSL, TNWL, TKS and four Tangkhul zone representatives to excerise the power enshrined in the TNL constitution.
According to the TNL constitution, under Presidential conventions, he is authorized to call an emergency assembly.
The TNL president said that the assembly has been called to discuss the future course of action against the MLAs for refusing to resign.
Weapon Zimik further said that the Tangkhul community has demonstrated their stand against the three 'anti-tribal Bills' passed by the State Assembly.
As such the TNL also strongly opposes and reject the three Bills, and had also raised the demand of all Tangkhul MLAs to resign from their seats.
However, since the MLAs have turned a deaf ear to the deadline, it is compelled to convene an emergency TNL assembly.
The president added that it is necessary that before awarding any befitting action against the MLAs, the assembly is necessary to ensure clear understanding for collective and effective enforcement.
