Imphal, November 17 2012:
Assuring that Kukis will live peacefully in a place approved by the State Government and the Government of India and will never come up with anything that will disintegrate Manipur, Rose Mangshi, President of Kuki Women's Association (KWA) has appealed to the people of the state to remain calm.
She was speaking at the Public Hearing on establishment of Organisation for Solidarity and Unity of North East India (OSUNE-India) held at Manipur Press Club here today.
Rose Mangshi further stated that the Kukiland as demanded by the Kukis of the state by bringing out a map is for the safeguard of traditional lands of the Kukis where they have been settling all these years but now at the threshold of being included in the peace talk solution between NSCN-IM and Government of India.
She also informed that if the peace talks being carried out between NSCN-IM and Govt of India, which reportedly focuses on nine points, are made public, the issue of Kukiland will automatically disappear.
The peace talks not only cover issues which might threaten the existence of the Kukis but also issues which might disintegrate Manipur.
As such, the Kukis have been compelled to come up with the present movement to save the Kukis and also to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The KWA President also charged the Nagas with interfering in the demand for Sadar Hills District by saying that not an inch of Senapati can be included in the proposed Sadar Hills District.
The Kukis have also clarified that there were no areas of Senapati in the proposed Sadar Hills district.
Rose Mangsi went on to point out that neither the State Government nor the Union Government have compensated for the 900 Kukis killed by the Nagas and thousands of houses burnt down.
Until and unless, the State Government and the Government of India compensates for the loss suffered by the Kukis, they will always stand against the demand for an 'Alternative Arrangement' or a 'Supra-State' of the Nagas.
Speaking on the occasion as one of the Presidium members, ex-MLA O Joy said that though the Indian Govt claims that the administration of India is carried out on 'Unity in Diversity', in reality it follows an administration of 'Diversity in Unity' in the NE.
The hidden agenda of the Indian Govt has torn apart the North Eastern States spewing hatred among the people.
He also pointed out the alleged indifferent attitude to the resolution passed by the Manipur State Legislative Assembly over the ILP issue and said that if the ILP was passed by state Assemblies of UP, WB and Maharashtra, the decision of the Union Government would not have been the same.
The public hearing was also attended by Social worker Th Iboyaima; Senior citizens RK Rajendra, Advocate Khaidem Mani, N Binoy, A Lokendro, L Sadananda and E Manohar as presidium members.
