Outstanding girl students, women honoured on International Women's Day celebration at different districts

In connection with the observance of International Women's Day across the world, the day was also observed at different district of the State.
Bpr : Bishnupur district administration celebrated the day at Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur B-block conference hall.
Five women weightlifters of Bishnupur district who received medals in Khelo India were also felicitated as part of the event.
Organised by the district administration, Bishnupur, five women weightlifters from the district namely Konsam Ormila Devi, Lamabam Nilam Devi, Potsangbam Umeshwori Devi, Warepam Sapana Devi and Arambam Anju Devi were awarded with simple gifts.
Senapati : Meanwhile, skit competition on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, flower show cum sales marked the celebration of International Women's day at Senapati District Mini Stadium today.
The theme of the observation was "Press for Progress" .

Speaking as Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Athem Muivah, said women play several important roles in economic growth of a society and bringing development in a society.
International Women's Day is being observed to recognize and respect all women for the respective roles they are playing.
Speaking as guest of honour, K Matia, First Woman Pastor said encouraged all women to pray and strive for development.
As part of the function many meritorious girl students in the field of academics, sports etc were honoured by the dignitaries.
A skit competition where six different groups from Thangal, Poumai, Zelianrong, Maram, Mao and Kuki tribes on the theme Beti bachao, Beti Padhao was also held.
Altogether 20 different groups of ICDS projects area of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts showcased and participated in today's flower show cum sales exhibition.
Apart from several women from all over the district, the function was also attended by different DLOs.
Jiribam: The International Women's Day was also observed by 87 Bn CRPF, Jiribam personnel where different welfare activities like medical camp, counselling on different diseases, guidance for joining forces etc were carried out.
Commandant 87 Bn Sh Sunil Kumar, Dr Prakash Chandra Bhardwaj, Dr Suraj Singh along with nursing staff of district hospital, Jiribam were present in the medical camp organised by the unit.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh Kumar emphasized the sacrifices and penance made by women since time immemorial in bringing positive and historical changes in the society.
He also sensitized women and girls about the various welfare schemes initiated by the PM for upliftment of women and girls namely Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra (PMMSK), Sukanya Yojana etc.
Such programmes were also conducted in sub-unit locations of the unit like Nungba, Kambiron, Kaimai, Barrak, Shantikhunou and Oinamlong.
People of the locality lauded the noble initiative and efforts of 87 Bn personnel.
Dr M Kamei, GDMO, Sh Ch Tomba Singh AC , SOs and other jawans took part in organising the medical camp.
Thoubal: In order to recognise the achievements and accomplishments of women in all fronts and to commemorate the various movements made by women in the State, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in association with Ningol Club, Heirok observed International Women's Day at Heirok Bazar with about 100 women and youths from four clubs of Heirok, today.
National Teacher Awardee T Rameshwor Singh and Assistant Teacher, Thokchom ongbi Pishak Devi attended the event as chief guest and president respectively.
The chief guest highlighted the role played by women in the present day society.
Later, Ningol Club presented prizes to outstanding women of Heirok namely Ningthoujam Jiteshwori Devi, Kh Rina Devi, Thokchom Manglembi and Thokchom Indira Devi.
The NYK and Ningol Club members lauded the participants for their enthusiasm in the observance of International Women's Day.
Meanwhile, Nawa Sindam Sang, Thoubal Khetri Leikai today observed International Women's Day at its campus under the theme "Khunsemlon da Nupisinggi Thoudang" (Role of women is society building).
Founder of the Nawa Sindam Sang P Ranjit Meitei, Lecturer of Department of Mathematics, NEHU Shillong, AK Jugindro, Advocate Gojendro and elders of the locality- M Nupimacha, P Thambal, A Noyonsana and others attended the observance as dignitaries.
Resource persons at the event spoke about role of women is society.
Many elderly women were honoured with shawls at the event.
