Nagaland Assembly resolves to integrate Naga inhabited areas

Kohima, July 27 2015:
On the 9th Session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly today, Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang forwarded for consideration and adoption of the resolution on Naga political issue.
He stated that after having discussed the Naga political issue on July 23 and 24 during the 9th Session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the House unanimously resolved and reiterated the earlier resolutions of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly dated December 12, 1964, August 28, 1970, September 16, 1994 and December 18, 2003, demanding integration of all contiguous Naga inhabited areas under one administrative umbrella, and to urge the Government of India to fulfil the same.
The Assembly then resolved to urge the Government of India and the NSCN (K) to resume the ceasefire agreement to create a more peaceful and congenial atmosphere for the smooth progress of the Naga political dialogue.
The Assembly also resolved to urge the Government of India to withdraw the declaration of the whole of Nagaland State as a disturbed area under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 .
It further resolved to urge all Naga Nationalist groups and civil societies to unite and work for the early settlement of the Naga political issue so that permanent peace reign.
Finally, the Nagaland Assembly resolved to urge the Government of India to expedite the Naga political dialogue.
