As a safety precautionary measure and for smooth functioning of the ensuing 2nd Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly commencing from June 27 in the New Assembly Hall, Chingmeirong, all escorts and PSOs of Ministers and MLAs including that of the Speaker would be banned from entering the premises of Assembly.
An office memorandum in connection with the new safety measure being taken up has been furnished by Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat to all concerned.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Chief Security Officer of Manipur Legislative Assembly explained that although the escorts and PSOs of all Ministers and MLAs including the Speaker would be banned from entering the Assembly campus while the Assembly session in progress, only one escort personnel of the Chief Minister would be permitted to enter the complex.
The new arrangement was also announced by Speaker Th Lokeshwar to media during an inspection visit today to look into the inconveniences faced by media persons during their coverage of Assembly proceedings in the new Assembly building.

Members of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) lodged a complaint with the Speaker in this regard.
During the inspection, the Speaker personally checked the sound system in Assembly hall, which is one of the main concerns of the media persons who find it difficult to record the proceeding on account of poor sound quality.
He also took serious note over complaint of inability to see the entire members of the House from the gallery seats provided to media persons.
Although the problem of sound system was solved at once, the problem regarding inability of media persons to see the entire members of the House from the gallery seats has to remain for the time being as necessary rectification could not be made immediately.
The Speaker, however, assured media persons present during the inspection that necessary repairing works would be done before commencement of the next Assembly session.
Informing about the office memorandum issued for safety precautionary measures taken up for the smooth functioning of the ensuing 2nd Session of the Assembly Speaker Lokeshwar said that vehicles of Chief Minister, himself, Ministers, Chairman of HAC and MLAs would enter from Gate number 1 and park at Parking number 1 on the northern side of Assembly Hall and exit through Gate no 2.The vehicles of all government officers from the rank of Commissioner and above shall enter through Gate number 2 .
He further informed that vehicles of Government Secretariat, Departments, Press and visitors would not be allowed to enter the Assembly Campus.
Such vehicles should be parked near the compound wall of Assembly Secretariat and occupants enter through Gate number 2.All mobile phone handsets of all officers should also be deposited with the Security (CID) Personnel deployed on duty at the Assembly Hall (Main Entrance Door) at basement.
The official vehicles of the Assembly Secretariat, Medical Team and Fire Tenders of the Manipur Fire Service shall enter through Gate number 2 and park inside the western side of the Assembly compound near Parking number 2 and exit by the same Gate.
After the inspection, Speaker Lokeshwar observed that construction work on the Assembly complex is under rapid progress with 90 percent of the works completed so far.
The entire construction work would be completed by next year.
