Pandam journal released

The second edition of 'Pandam' (Aim) monthly journal has been released by SDO, Nambol Gangmei Shantikumar Kabui as the chief guest at the Kakhulong office of Zeliangrong Union today.
Besides Shantikumar Kabui, the journal release function was attended by Zeliangrong Cultural Council Homei Chapriak secretary R Chandra Haomei as the functional president while ZU (AMN) general secretary K Poushinglung, Kabui Mothers' Association cashier G Atongpi Kameipei, ZU (imphal zone) chairman G Pouganglung, ZU (Imphal Zone) vice chairman DH Gaikhemmei and Kakhulong Khullakpa K Kajeichungpou Namgaopou graced the event as the presidium members.
In his brief comment, Pandam editor in-chief Golmei Makuchung Kabui informed the gathering Pandam was a daily newspaper published in Meetei Mayek script in the 1980s with the then indigenous script advocate Chingsubam Akaba as its editor.
Informing that he was then the daily's assistant editor, Golmei maintained that owing to man-power shortage and financial problems the daily newspaper ceased publication.
The publication, however, resumed in the form of a journal with its first edition of released at a simple function by Education Minister M Okendro at Lamyanba Shanglen on November 9, the present editor informed while adding that the journal aims to preserve and promote traditional customs and practices of the indigenous people of Manipur.
