Lamka, September 11 2015 :
Claiming that the three 'anti-tribal' Bills passed by the Assembly on Aug 31 has stirred a political revival amongst the State tribals, the SoO signatories United People Front (UPF) today expressed confidence that the people's wish and aspirations to have a separate administration outside the Government of Manipur will be realised through the current movement.
Addressing the press here, functionaries of the ZRO and HPC (D), both under the UPF umbrella, said it is with the desire to have a political solution that the KNO and UPF entered into a SoO agreement with the Government in 2008 .
Due to the lack of political will from both the State and Centre, political talks failed to start all these years, but the State Government's decision to pass three 'anti-tribal' Bills in the Assembly has given a fillip to their long standing aspiration for a separate political administration.
The Bills have awakened the people.
The subsequent protests stirred a political revival amongst the entire tribal population, uniting them like never before and infusing in them the need for an urgent political solution, said the UPF functionaries.
They have also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the nine 'martyrs' saying it is their valuable sacrifice that had united the tribal people.
On the call for a separate administration, they said it is the one thing that includes all the aspirations of the State tribals from the KNO demand for a separate State, the UPF demand for an autonomous hill State and the UNC demand for alternative arrangement.
They also stated that there may be some elementary differences in these demands but maintained that the end goal remains the same, and it is the tribal people who will benefit from it.
The two armed groups also claimed that the cry of the people has been heard by the Centre and accordingly there are numerous responses from the Central Government as well as from the BJP.
Appealing to the people to not lose heart, they expressed confidence and assured the public that their aspirations, God willing, will be realised sooner than later.
