Many condole Chana Lukhoi

Condolences poured in from different quarters mourning the unfortunate demise of eminent playwright and cultural icon OinamLukhoi, popularly known as Chana Lukhoi.
Chana Lukhoi breathed his last on Sunday at his residence in Chana village, Imphal East, after a prolonged illness.
He was 74 .
In separate releases, Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council; Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung and Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) have expressed profound sorrow and condolence over the untimely demise of Chana Lukhoi.
The organisations remembered the numerous sacrifices and contributions made by Chana Lukhoi towards the preservation & promotion of Manipuri culture and literature.
The organisations also shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
It may be mentioned that Chana Lukhoi, a resident of Chana Mayai Leikai under Imphal East district, was not only a popular playwright but also an accomplished script writer.
A prolific writer of Manipuri Puya stories, he played a significant role in shaping the traditional art form of Sumang Leela.
During his lifetime, Chana Lukhoi wrote over 150 plays including "Eegi Nong", "Nongankhidraba Ahing", "Sajibugi Nonglei", "Kheba Chinggi Napomda", "Hingbagi Dabi", "Mongfamna Eihakpu Kourakle", "Keishamthong Thoibi", "Shabi Shanou Express", "Epam Lamdam Yehglubada", "Khomlang Lamaan", "Love 2000" and "Kangleipakta 1709" .
His exceptional talent earned him 18 Best Script awards and 9 Second Best Script awards from prestigious institutions, including the Manipur State Kala Academy and the Manipur State Shumang Leela Council.
Some of his many accolades include the Nongthombam Birendrajit Award conferred by the Manipur State Shumang Leela Council; "Eikhoigi Pathou" conferred by Manipur Development Trust, Bangladesh; "Chingmi Tammi Nungshi Khudol Mana" given by Meetei National Front Kangleipak and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad's "Khumanthem Kaomacha Ningshing Sanagi Takaman".
Chana Lukhoi was also a columnist with the Manipuri edition of The Sangai Express.
He was also an AIR, Imphal and DDK, Imphal approved writer.
