Seed sowing festival of New Tusom Village begins

The four-day seed sowing festival of New Tusom village had a vibrant display of Tangkhul traditional items, particularly Adimulee dance to invoke God's blessing for abundant harvest this year.
Adimulee is a traditional dance of Tusom village performed by group of women folks during seed sowing festival.
It displayed how women folks prepare for hosting a major festival in olden days through dance.
"Zeenezuh" in local parlance seed sowing festival of New Tusom village was inaugurated by Kereilhouvi Angami Principal Chief Conservation of Forest at the village ground, yesterday.
K Angami, elated with seeing the forest area covered with greenery, urged all not to exploit the forest as it will benefit only a few people.
The chief guest also assured to extend support in the construction of village guest house.
Meanwhile, K Angami also launched Prime Minister Vandhan Vikas Kendra under TRIFED and distributed 14 items for food processing to 18 SHGs along with a cheque.
The programme was attended by Addl PCCF, Dr Lokho Puni, Chief Conservator Soreiphy Vashum, DFOs and RO of Ukhrul district.
The village still practices Tushon-Na, a pork meat gift to married women during the festival to strengthen the relationship between the
two families.
It might be mentioned that New Tusom village is located between international Border Pillar 129 & 130 and is about 110 km away from district headquarter, Ukhrul.
