Blood donation camp

Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kangpokpi; 25 Assam Rifles and JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal, jointly organised a blood donation camp at the Inspection Bungalow (IB), Kangpokpi.
Colonel PS Arora, Commandant, 25 Assam Rifles and Sahib Singh, Zonal Director, NYK Sangathan, Imphal Zone graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.
Major Sanjay Kumar, Post Commander, 25 AR Kangpokpi; Captain HN Singh, Post Commander, Sapormeina; Captain Kamal, Post Commander, Motbung; S Gourokishwor Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Kangpokpi; Dr K Surjit, MO i/c, Blood Bank & Transfusion Unit,JNIMS; Dr T Hatzaw, Medical Superintendent, Kangpokpi Christian Hospital and Chonkam Kipgen, Chairman, Kangpokpi Town Committee also attended the occasion.

School, Kangpokpi as well as youths from the local and within Sadar Hills, donated blood in the camp.
Speaking to mediapersons, Salam Gourokishwor Singh stated that blood donation is an active way of contributing to the society since transfusions of blood and blood components have become an essential part of healthcare today.
"you don't need a special reason to give blood; you just need your own reason.
Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply and you will feel good knowing you've helped change a life," added the DYC, NYK-Kangpokpi.
He also assured that NYK, Kangpokpi will continue to render its best effort to ensure sufficiency of blood in the future.
Dr K Surjit, MO i/c, Blood Bank & Transfusion Unit, JNIMS said that the blood donated today will be tested for various diseases like HIV, Hepatitis B&C, Syphilis and Malaria and those found positive would be autoclaved and discharged accordingly while those found negative would be stored after leveling its blood group.
The blood donors were handed with a Donor Card which in future would provide them facility to avail blood without replacement in time of their need.
Meanwhile, the 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of hqs IGAR (S) in collaboration with the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Chandel branch and department of IHBT RIMS, Imphal, also organised a voluntary blood donation camp at Indoor Stadium, Chandel today to mark the Raising Day of 20 AR unit.
Commandant of the 20 AR inaugurated the event with SP Chandel, CNPO President, and CMO Chandel taking the dias as guests of honour.
Approximately 42 men and 14 women donated blood at the donation camp today.
Later, Medical Officer of the unit delivered awareness lecture on blood donation, health, hygiene and sanitation.
Medical awareness pamphlets were also distributed to the locals by RIMS authorities as part of the programme.
The event also hosted a blood donation slogan writing competition for school students, a press release reported.
