2nd Tangmai Festival to be held today

CCpur, August 09 2019: The second edition of Tangmai (cucumber) festival will be organised by the Yong Paite Association at YPA GHQs Hall, Hiangtam Lamka, tomorrow.

About 10000 pieces of organic cucumber grown in the hills have been collected by the organiser for tomorrow's event.

Sources said that separate teams have collected cucumbers along the Guite road as well as Tipaimukh road.

The organic cucumbers are collected mainly from Lungthul (L), Lungthul (D), Lungthul (T), Suangdoh, Enpai, Lungchin, Singngat, Thanlon, Joutung, Mualpheng, Dialkhai, and Sinzawl, reports our correspondent.

Horticulture Minister Th Shyamkumar, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian and Chairman, ADC Churachandpur T Paukhanlian will grace the event among others.

Renown crooners of the Paite community across the country have also arrived the town to enthral the festive revellers.

It may be noted that over 6000 cucumbers are collected and sold or devoured during the first edition of the festival held last year at the same venue.

This year too, the cucumbers will be served free of cost to the festival goers.

However, if anyone wishes to take the cucumber home unsliced, they will have to pay a certain price, said to the organiser.
