Imphal, May 02 2018:
All Zeliangrong Students' Union, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Baudi have stated that the Zeliangrong community cannot be divided by any external forces and if the interest of the Zeliangrong community is affected by the Naga solution, problems will still persist in the future.
Speaking to media persons at a public meeting organised at Mahabali Kabui Khun community hall today, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) president Athuan Abonmai informed that on August 21, 2015, a consultative meeting of tribal leaders was held at Naithu Resort, Dimapur and during that meeting, the then president of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) Raitu Chawang had conveyed that a lot of problems would still persists if the interests of the Zeliangrong people are not considered by the Naga solution.
Claiming that Zeliangrong settled at Makuilong in Tamenglong since thousands of years ago and gradually spread to various parts of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, the president condemned the NSCN/GPRN.
Tatar Hoho directive of dividing Zeliangrong community into Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei tribes.
He said that if Assam is not included in the Naga issue, then Zeliangrong settled in Haflong, Assam would be left behind and this is akin to the divide and rule policy during the time of the British that except in the current time it would be done by the NSCN (IM) .
Even if they go by various names, Zeliangrong community is one, he added.
Athuan Abonmai said that Zeliangrong community will not accept being the victim of the Naga solution and added that Zeliangrong people, CSO leaders, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), ZYF and All Zeliangrong Students Union had submitted an ultimatum to Tatar Hoho NSCN to revoke its decision by April 30 but in vain.
Consultative meetings would be held and the decision of the Zeliangrong people will be
announced, he added.
