Foundation stone laid

Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar laid the foundation stone for a Bailey suspension bridge which will connect Tipaimukh block, Churachandpur and Vangai Range yesterday.
The bridge will be built over Barak river, Jiri News Network (JNN) reports.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Ratankumar said the bridge, when completed, will promote trade relations between Vangai Range (National Highway No 2) and Parbung village (Jiri Tipaimukh road).
The bridge will reduce the 300 kilometre journey from NH 2 to Jiri Tipaimukh road or vice versa to 80 km.
The State PWD and PMGSY will undertake the repairing task of the approach road to the bridge.
With an estimate of Rs 3.5 crore, the State is planning to utilise funds from NEC or NLCPR for the repair works.
Batting for support, the Minister listed out the various development works taken up by the Congress led Government during its last 15 years in office.
He assured that the INC would continue to undertake more developmental works in the future if the public continue to show support.
The Minister while appealing for a threat free work environment for the engineers, also assured that the bridge would be completed within a year.
