Kangpokpi, April 03 2018:
Rebuffing the statement of
Sampui Village Authority
claiming settlement in Chassad
land since time immemorial, the
Kuki Students' Organization-
GHQ has claimed that the
statement of Sampui VA is mere
allegation with an intention to
forcefully occupy the land of
Chassad.
The Kuki Students' Organization-GHQ, General Secretary, Thanglalshon Baite said that not a single fact is present in the Sampui Village Authority statement while terming it as a baseless allegation to forcefully occupy the land of Chassad so as to house NSCN-IM workers.
He pointed out that Sampui
village was established with
just three households as a
protectorate of Chassad and
it's claims of settlement since
time immemorial is a blatant
lie.
It also asked, if Sampui
village claimed to possess
documents of rights over the
land why did it lost every
case in law Courts.
"Chassad village possess
legal documents and land
rights that date back from
colonial period" Baite claimed
while adding that it [KSO] is
in possession of the legal
documents and land rights that
clearly proves the land rightfully
belongs to Chassad.
He said that if the Sampui
Village Authority is willing
to see the legal documents and
land rights of Chassad they
may be allowed to see it.
He also elucidated that
Laijang is not a village but a
place named by Chassad because
of the topography of the
place.
The KSO further claimed
that the headman of Sampui
claiming the ongoing construction
activity as that of
village expansion is also lying
while alleging that everybody
in the locality knows that the
ongoing construction activity
is for housing NSCN-IM
workers and as the Sampui
village has no legal rights over
the said land it is taking the
help of NSCN IM to intimidate
Chassad village and
occupy the land forcibly.
Reiterating that the said land
rightfully belongs to
Chassad, the students body
also said that now the issue
has the potential to create adverse
communal crisis and
conveyed the anxiousness of
Chassad villagers in lodging
FIR on the trespassing for
fear of reprisal from NSCN
IM.
Claiming that the matter
was intimated to the Chief
Minister months back, the
KSO-GHQ urged the State
Government to intervene and
settle the issue at the earliest
while demanding all construction
activities at the said
land to be ceased immediately
to prevent further
deterioration of the prevailing
peaceful coexistence in
the area.
