67th State Open Badminton Championships : Stage set for U-17 boys' doubles quarter finals

The 67th edition of the State Open Badminton Championships kicked off today at MBA's indoor hall at DM University Campus.
The opening day of the championships saw completion of the quarter final line up of the U-17 boys' doubles competition.
In the first pre-quarter final match of the competition, Kh Amarjit Singh and Rishav Ngangom of Bishnupur district eased to a 21-11, 21-14 win over Kakching district's pair of K Dayananda and W Juvaraj.
Ch Bose and S Shyamchandra of Imphal West reached the quarter final with a 21-14, 21-16 win over the Bishnupur-Jiribam pair of Martin Ingudam and Roshan Ingudam in the second pre-quarter final match.
In the third pre-quarter final match, Imphal West's pair of Thoihenba Ph and Tulsidas Ph sealed a hard fought 21-18, 20-22, 22-20 win over Imphal East's Rakesh Thiyam and Th Golson before another Imphal West pair of Maisnam Roshan and Yaiphaba L pulled off an easy 21-7, 21-9 win over IW-IE pair of Kh Boyai and Rivash Thangjam.
In the fifth pre-quarter final encounter, M Vivek and Th Hursh Singh of Imphal West sealed a 21-10, 21-8 win over Devchandra and Himalay pair of Thoubal district before Kakching and Senapati pair of E Shitaljit and Pfoki Liruna sealed a 21-9, 21-15 win over Imphal West's Ahenba Kh and Lukesh Thingom.
In a U-17 girls singles pre-quarter final match, Chanulembi Sapam of Imphal West sealed the last-8 round berth with a 21-18, 21-19 win over Raj Kumari Irina of Imphal East in a keenly contested match.
U-17 mixed pair of Neelachal Ph and Jianna also made it to the quarter final of the competition with a 21-16, 21-12 win over L Kalo Truman and Charani of Senapati district.
