Imphal, July 21 2023:
Accusing the Commissioner and Director of Education (S) of neglecting their duties, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has demanded their resignation.
It may be noted that this is in connection with the claim that some private schools are charging fees from students for the months of May and June when summer vacations were in effect as the State was/is under the grip of a violent tumultuous conflict.
A statement issued by P Ranjan Meitei, secretary publicity, KSA has assured that the student body will start taking action against those private schools who have charged tuition fees from students for May and June when the entire State and its people have been faced with a series of hardships including loss of livelihoods and income.
Stating that this act is akin to giving more weight to taking money from a suffering public than acknowledging the seriousness of the conflict, KSA asserted that waiving off fees for the two months will not render any private schools defunct as people are well aware of how much money these institutions are minting.
Thus, KSA has demanded a clarification from the concerned private schools in this regard.
KSA further stated that the student body had submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner and Director of Education (S) in this connection on July 11 .
However, it rued that KSA has not yet received any response or seen any actions being taken up.
