Defending champion and table topper NISA, Thangmeiband suffered its first defeat in the 4th Manipur State League Football Tournament when TRUGPU, Nambol rallied to win the second leg match 3-1 at Khuman lampak Main stadium today.
The keenly contested match, which was NISA's home tie, turned ugly nine minutes from the end when supporters of the Thangmeiband side manhandled the referee for not awarding penalty to the host team.
As TRUGPU defender Indrakumar brought down Daniel inside the restricted zone the referee awarded a free kick which the opponent players vociferously protested with the assertion that the foul merits a penalty kick.
