Observance of Jiri Treaty 1833

Kangleipak (JIMWAK) observed Jiri Treaty
1833 at Jiribam town hall today.

Louriyam attended the observation as pre-
sidium members.
The observance recalled the treaty inked
between Maharaja Gambhir and British Gov-
ernment on April 18,1833.

Janaki Devi stressed on the ethnic diversity of
Manipu and undelined the coexistence of dif-
ferent communities in Jiribam district since
old age while urging all to follow the trend so
that peace and tranquillity continue to maintain
in Jiribam.
Meanwhile, the other presidium
members elaborated on the history and the story behind inking of the treaty.
