Director inspects Govt model schools

An official team of Directorate of Education (S) led by its Director H Deleep today inspected Wangkhei High School, Keishamthong High School and Lamding High School in connection with the introduction of Mentoring System at a few selected Government schools.
The Director expressed his desire to increase the working days of model schools in order to enhance and maintain its current performance.
In the recently declared Class X examination, 30 students of Wangkhei High School passed in First Division, out of 31 students appeared.
Fifty seven students appeared in the examination from Lamding High School, among which N Khagemba secured 23rd position.
The school produced 13 First Divisioners, 24 Second Divisioners and five Third Divsioners summing up its pass percentage at 73 percent.
Among 35 students appeared from Keishamthong High School, 33 passed in First Division, seven in Second Division and one in Compartmentary.
Encouraging the teachers of these schools, Deleep said that the schools have produced sizable number of first Divisioners although the number of rank holders is not that high.
He also urged the teachers to nurture the students right from Class VI and work harder to enhance performance in next year's Board exam.
The Director further said that the Education Directorate (S) has prepared an e-learning module wherein the students would be taught the syllabus of different subjects through graphical presentations in computers.
He also said that the Directorate would also prepare a separate academic calendar for Government schools.
Saying that training for Headmasters has already been started at some places, the Director added that the same would continue further.
Under Mentoring System, some of the suggested roles of Mentors are taking stock of the infrastructure of the school and the gaps existing in the school in this respect.
Drawing up precise measurable objectives of acadernic performance and making them articles of faith among all the stakeholders.
Benchmarks like pass percentage, students' enrolment etc can be used to measure the outputs.
Studying the best practices of private schools and adopting them in the mentored school, wherever applicable.
Ensuring timely serving of Mid-Day meal and easing out bottlenecks.
Documenting schools' performance to show the impact of Mentoring System.
As part of streamlining education sector, promoting excellence in government schools and generating possible vibes.
Ensuring that proposal for fund allotment is made to DDP concerned.
Mentors may also encourage students to take part in extracurricular activities and sports.
Cultural literary and sporting talent in the schools should be identified and brought to the notice of the authorities concerned to help them realise their full potential.
