District Level Yuva Utsav held

District Level Yuva Utsav: India @2047 was observed under the theme 'Panch Pran' today at Mount Everest College, Senapati witnessing a number of competitive events on different aspects.
The District Level Yuva Utsav was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Senapati in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Mount Everest College, Senapati.
Presenting the keynote address, W Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director, NYK, Senapati said that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathans (NUKS) across the country are conducting mega programmes in 2023-24 under the umbrella initiative of Yuva Utsava-India@2047 based on the Panch Pran laid by the Prime Minister on August 15, 2022 at Red Fort.
The Panch Pran or five pledges are, 'resolution for a developed India; removing any trace of the colonial mindset; taking pride in our legacy; our strength of unity; and fulfilling the duties of citizens with honesty', he added .
The Deputy Director further stated that these programmes are intended to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and values of India's freedom struggle by engaging the youth in various events, progressing from the district, State and to the National level.
PP Ronald, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner/ADM, Senapati stated that the Central and State Government have been taking up every initiative to encourage the young ones, not only in their studies but also in sports and other extra-curricular activities.
Through such activities, the Government wants the youth to bring together the oneness of the country to know the rich culture and traditions, the ethos of the country, to remember the freedom fighters and also to spread and practice the spirit of patriotism among the citizens.
The theme of the Yuva Utsav is stated to bring unity and understanding, cooperation and unity among all the citizens of India specially the youth and students, he said.
Different competitive events were organised during the day including painting competitions, poem writing, photography competitions, declamation contest on "To work tirelessly for the dream of a developed India" and cultural competitions.
Students from Mount Everest College, Mt Zion College, St Xavier College and Lungnila Elizabeth College took part in the various competitions held today.
Different field experts from the district judged the various competitions.
Dr Holkhongam Haokip, Head of Department of History, Mount Everest College, deliberated on the topic "To take pride in our glorious Heritage " .
Niomchung Jatak Chiru, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Mount Everest College, Senapati proposed the vote of thanks where he acknowledged the NYK, Senapati for the initiative taken up for upliftment of the youth and students of the region.
