Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today informed the State Assembly that efforts are being made for setting up an Infectious Disease Diagnostic Centre inside the campus of JN Hospital.
In his response to the discussion on the Governor's Address, the Chief Minister conveyed that the DoNER has given the assurance of taking care the infrastructural needs of the proposed centre which would provide facilities for diagnosis of infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS.
NACO has also assured the required equipments, the Chief Minister added.
Maintaining that the SPF Govt has been special attention on ensuring adequate supply of power and water to the people, the Chief Minister said steps have been taken up for a tie-up between the PHED and the Power Department for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the water supply schemes.
However, he acknowledged that the shares of power being received by the State from various projects could not be utilised properly due to the existing distribution and transmission system.
Nonetheless, efforts are being made to upgrade the existing transmission line which can transmit only around 100 megawatt so that it can transmit upto 400 megawatt.
The Regional Transmission Upgradation which would be for whole of the North Eastern States would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 1700 crores, the Chief Minister informed the House.
Plans are also afoot for construction of water supply schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 3 to 5 crores in the sub-divisions of the hill districts, the Chief Minister said.
While informing the House that the Planning Commission has sanctioned around Rs 21 crores for clearing all the artificially cultivated Phumdis from Loktak Lake within a time frame, the Chief Minister said the DPC for recruitment of Loktak Protection Force has already been carried out.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also provided the required fund for procuring Hovercrafts, the Chief Minister added.
In connection with the Suspension of Operation (SoO) signed with the Kuki UG groups, the Chief Minister assured the House that the agreement would be withdrawn if any of the signatories were found indulging in extortion while talks are underway with regard to the ground rules to be adhered to.
Similarly, action would also be taken up if the security forces were found violating the ground rules.
Observing that proper implementation of the flagship programmes like the Nutrition Programme of the Social Welfare Department and the Mid-Day Meal scheme of the Education Dept would be to the benefit of the people, the Chief Minister said the Government has been paying special attention on implementation of such flagship programmes.
After listening to the response of the Chief Minister, the amendment motion 30 put up from the side of the Opposition was withdrawn and the House passed the Governor's Address unanimously.
