Tree saplings planted

Bpr/Tbl, May 26 2019: In connection with the '21st Meira Paibi Day' to be held on May 28 across the State, tree saplings were planted at Irengbam Awang Maning Leikai in Oinam AC, Bishnupur district by the volunteers of Observation Committee 21st Meira Paibi Numit in association with various Meira Paibi Lup and Club members.

The tree plantation drive was jointly organized by Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup Manipur, All Manipur Women Voluntary Association, Nambol Area Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Meira Paibi Welfare Association Kangleipak and Senjelpokpi United Welfare Club Irengabam in which about 200 tree saplings have been planted.

The programme was attended by Convenor Observation Committee 21 st Meira Paibi Numit, Longjam Memchoubi Devi; president NAMPAL, Maibam Shanti; secy Thoudam Chaobi; president AMWVA, Y Kunjarani Devi; secy Ksh Sujata; president MPWAK, R Rengshongak Koireng; secy T Prembala Devi and president SUWC, Th Yaima and secy Premchand Hanglem and many other members of the Maira Paibi Lup and Club.

Regarding the programme, president Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup and Convenor Meira Paibi Numit Observation Committee, Ema Longjam Memchoubi said that the tree plantation drive is a small initiative from the Maira Paibi Lup to keep the eco-system in balance which is badly affected global warming.

She further said that mass tree plantation drive will be launched across the State as part of upcoming 21st Meira Paibi Day to make mother earth more green and refresh.

THOUBAL: As part of World Environment Day observation, Lions Club, Thoubal in collaboration with Lio Club, Thoubal and Integrated Rural Development & Educational Organisation (IRDEO) planted over 500 tree saplings at the complex of IRDEO, Wangbal, today.

The programme was attended by members of Lion Club and trainees of IRDEO among others.

Speaking to media persons , president of Lion Club, Thoubal, L Marjit Kumar said that the programme was organised to give awareness about the degrading environment and its results in various environmental issues like global warming, ozone layer depletion, greenhouse effects, raise in sea water level and improper monsoon rain due to anthropogenic activity.

He the urged all to plant tree saplings in their surrounding to save the environment from further degradation.
